Shaolin Temple of Canada

Shaolin Temple has long been committed to the promotion and dissemination of Chinese Buddhist culture overseas. Under the active promotion of Shi Yongxin and the strong support of all colleagues, Shaolin Temple officially proposed the establishment of the Shaolin Temple of Canada in Vancouver in 2016. After two years of hard work, the center has opened its doors in its first location in the Greater Vancouver region, with an existing building area of ​​over 500 square meters.

In March 2018, the Shaolin Temple of Canada was created and two senior monks, Shi Yanhong and Shi Yandi were entrusted by Shi Yongxin to lead the Shaolin Temple of Canada. The Shaolin Temple is dedicated to disseminating the culture of Chan Buddhism, martial arts and medicine to improve the health and lives of the people of Canada.

Shi Yanhong

Buddhist Master

Master Shi Yanhong joined the Shaolin Temple to practice Shaolin Kungfu in 2001 and was apprenticed to the Master Monk Shi Yongxin. He once studied Buddhism at the China Institute of Buddhist Studies Qixiashan Branch, Putuo Mountain and Wutai Mountain. In 2011, he received full ordination the Daxiangguo Temple and returned to live in the Meditation Hall of Shaolin Temple. In 2017, he was appointed by the Master Monk Shi Yongxin to set up the Shaolin Temple of Canada in Vancouver, Canada.

Shi Yandi

Kungfu Instructor of the Monks

Shi Yandi is among the 34th generation disciples of the Songshan Shaolin Temple of China, the Kungfu instructor of the monks as well as the representative inheritor of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Shaolin Kungfu. He joined the Shaolin Temple at the age of 8 and was apprenticed to the Master Monk SHI Yongxi. The Master practiced Chan meditation day and night and kept learning martial arts tirelessly. For more than a decade, he has visited over 30 countries and regions worldwide with the Master Monk, the Chinese government and relevant organizations, accumulating rich experience of cultural exchange and making fruitful achievements. The master has dedicated himself to the undertakings of promoting Shaolin Chan culture and martial arts and carrying forward the spirits of the Shaolin Temple worldwide, in an effort to benefiting all living creatures.
